Game Break News With Morgan Webb

PS3's RESISTANCE: FALL OF MAN, In-Theater Gaming, PS3 Backward Compatibility Issues

Newsweek.com recent interview with Worldwide Sony Studios President, Phil Harrison, confirms that they will release additional content for Resistance: Fall Of Man. They have not gone into detail on the schedule, but he has commented that they "have some really, really cool things that will be extending the story, extending the locations, some brand new content, starting in April." He continued by stating that if the new content is well received by gamers that it could lead to a sequel.

TheLastBoss.com reports that a movie chain in Spain is testing an integration between movie theaters and LAN parties. Dubbed "Cinegames", viewers/players can play games like Battlefield 2142 prior to the beginning of a movie. This same technology looks to be heading to the US and will allow moviegoers to play 15 to 20 minutes of interactive, ad-sponsored games before the start of movies.

GameDailyBiz.com reports that the European version of the PS3 will apparently not feature the PS2's Emotion Engine chip and will rely mainly on software to emulate PS2 compatibility. The result is that backwards compatibility will be limited compared to the U.S. and Japanese models.
